February 28, 2013 Baby J

So here’s what else I’ve been up to in 2013…

Snugglin with newbies!!

Anyone who even kind of knows me, knows that I’ve got quite the soft spot for babies…. (haha, soft spot!) SO, how ecstatic am I that everyone around me seems to be having them lately!?! Not only do I get to snuggle, hold and admire them, speaking soft, smiley, high pitched nonsense… but I’ve been able to get my camera on them to catch these precious, fleeting moments of their lives for their parents…. and once they cry or get a full diaper, I get to give them right back!

Sweet Baby J would have been happy to cuddle and snuggle with me all day long, no problem – well, unless it was feeding time, then I better lactate or get out of the way for someone who does! Putting her down for pictures, however, she definitely put me on more of a timer! She’d stare at my lens for a while, (likely wondering if maybe that would lactate) giving me soft sweet looks and hints of smiles, and then she’d give me a little pout and bat those lashes when she was done and it was time for me to move on.

Luckily, I had no problem following that routine, and we were an efficient little team!

Besides…. she’s got an adorably convincing face!

I’m so glad to be able to be even a small part of her journey, watching & documenting her growth & beauty through the coming years!

February 25, 2013 What’s going on?!

Well helloooooo!

Have you missed me? I’ve certainly missed hearing from all of you!! I’ve been super neglectful in my postings and blogging this year…not the best way to start out the year, I know! Howeeeeeever, I do have good reason!!

I really tried to use January as a catch-up and catch my breath month.  Catch up on editing, on Albums, on housework! Plenty of time after that, right? Wrong! Then came the storms. The power outages, school closings, school delays… ALL no good for anyone! I hope you all fared well, and weren’t without power for too long! We invited the in-law’s over and all hunkered down by the wood stove. We even cooked some pretty delicious meals on it too! It was kind of fun… for a little while anyway. Let’s just say we were a little ecstatic when NStar came & saved the day! It’s the little things, like a bathroom light, that really make my day I guess. ;) It doesn’t end there though…. Then there’s February vacation! That just basically piggy backed onto the school closings and delays, and for a while there everything just felt like groundhog day! We did manage to get some fun time in with the kids, go sledding, have a couple of sleep overs, and even get a little cleaning done, so don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t terrible… just not ideal for a work from home momma. I can’t say that I’m not loooooooving this quiet time I have right now though! (time that I just noticed is quickly coming to an end! Whyyyyyy?!)

I also managed to fit in a few photo sessions within all that chaos, that you have yet to see a peek of! I think they deserve a blog post of their own though, so I’ll have to keep you in suspense for just a bit longer! Sorry!

Ok, last but not least on my list of ‘reasons for neglecting you through my lack of social media use’…..

You ready for it? Can i get a drumroll or something?

I’m working on my studio!! Yep, you heard read it right!  Between the catching up and the storms, and school vacations, we’ve moved my entire office and equipment to the new space! I’ve managed to claim the perfect area in my house, and though it needs some  finish work, and some major organizing & redecorating, at some point this year, it should be up and running!! I’m very excited & can’t wait to announce my first availability for an in-studio session! Eeek!!

Now let me know what’s up with you! Fill me in! What have you been up to! Any good storm stories? Let’s catch up!

January 12, 2012 A Year in Review…

My apologies for being SO late in posting this!  I know you were all on the edge of your seats waiting for it! ;) The Christmas season ended up being SO busy for me, (like whoa – I love you guys!!) that afterwards, I think I just sort of ‘shut off’ for a little bit.  However, I’m back, I’ve missed you all, and I’m ready for a fantastic Twenty Twelve!

But wait!

First, let’s take a peek back on 2011 and remember all the good times we had!

The year started off at Children’s Hospital, with the LaFountain family of Caring Crowns, visiting little Miss Chloe.

DSC 0276 300x214 A Year in Review...

Little Chloe, at just four months old, was diagnosed with  Acute  Lymphatic Leukemia. She was the first princess  sponsored by  Caring Crowns, and it was such a joy to have had  the  opportunity to meet her and her family.  These days,  Princess  Chloe is home  and doing well, and her friends and  family  couldn’t be happier  about it!   Visit here for more  updates on this little fighter.

Next there was the Crowns For a Cure (now Caring Crowns)  Pageant.

CFAC 1024x512 A Year in Review...There were so many contestants and vendors, and TONS of people showed up to have some fun, cheer everyone on, and of course, to raise money for such a wonderful cause!

I can’t wait to see the turnout for this year!  The date is set for February 18th! Go here to get your registration forms printed!

Have you signed up yet? I’d love to see some of my favorites there!!

(who am I kidding – you’re ALL my favorites !!  Seeing you all there would be pretty amazing, y’know…. winkwink-hinthint!)

……………………………………………………………………………

Next up is family, sibling,  newborn, maternity, children, birthday, and ‘just because’ portrait sessions.

I had originally wanted to share an individual image  or two from each and tell you a little something special about the session…. then I realized I wanted to get this done sometime this year! So, I made up some collages of some of my favorite images of 2011.

5 1024x1024 A Year in Review...

I had so much fun this year with all of you!  It’s fun to watch the little ones grow up, families expand, and to meet new friends and family through your referrals.  Looking back on all your smiling faces (and laughing through some ‘bloopers’) I’m just completely overwhelmed and grateful that you’ve not only let me capture your family’s story, but that you’ve let me become a small part of it.

There I go, getting all sappy…

Seriously though, you guys are awesome.

Next up is the UR Brand photoshoot!

7 A Year in Review...

UR Brand just released a clothing line called “PopUlaR”

The clothing is designed to make a statement. U R Polular – meaning everyone is popular.  The line was created to promote positive self-esteem, spread awareness, and stand up against bullying.

The photoshoot was a lot of fun, and so many great models came out to help promote UR Brand.  A launch party is scheduled on February 25th. Check here for details on how to purchase tickets

Last, but certainly not least,

my 2011

Bride & Grooms!!

♥ ♥ ♥

First up,

Mr & Mrs Craaybeek

Craaybeek 1024x469 A Year in Review...

Family helped in planning this day from start to finish.  Married in the church she grew up in, and just eager to say “I do”, Kristilyn had nerves of steel.  Todd, however…. well, his nerves may have been lacking some steel! ;)

I hear the Craaybeek family is expected to expand in about 3-4ish months (I think)…. with a little girl!! ♥

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Next we have

Mr & Mrs Moriarty

Moriarty 1024x512 A Year in Review...There’s something about 2011 that made for calm and collected brides, and nervous and fidgety grooms!

(Or maybe us woman can just hide it better!)

Jen and Dan both wrote their own vows, and it was difficult not to tear up, listening to their heartfelt words to eachother. They then went from a sentimental ceremony, to a par-tayyyyyy of a reception!  Friends and family filled the dance floor all night long. Jen even decided to end the night by singing for everyone! It was a great day!

The Moriarty family is also preparing to expand!  Pink or Blue?  No news yet!

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Next up;

Mr & Mrs Donovan

Donovan 1024x512 A Year in Review...

This wedding was also a lot of fun!  Melissa and Sean have such a caring, fun-loving, and just plain fantastic group of friends and family!  There was non-stop laughter and smiles throughout the whole day!  Everyone played a part in helping the day to go smoothly, and then making sure that dance floor was never bare!  I’ll always remember watching the Limo just bouncing like crazy to the beat at the stop light on the way to the reception!

So much fun!

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Next we have

Mr & Mrs Jesse

Jesse 1024x512 A Year in Review...

Nicole made for such a beautiful bride, and when I was done sobbing over her, I noticed that Ben made a very handsome groom as well!

Their group was also ready to par-taayyyy!!  They braved a very chilly beach, with plenty of smiles and silliness to go around, hammed it up at the PhotoBooth, and danced and sang the night away!

We should do it again…. say, next week?  ;)

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

And my last 2011 Bride & Groom;

Mr & Mrs Conzelman

Conzelman 1024x512 A Year in Review...

I didn’t have as much time to get to know these two, but from our first meeting it was clear that they were very much in love.

Their friends had such wonderful things to say about them in their toasts, and they were all hilarious coming up with poses during our time for “formals”.  The dance with the groom and bride’s brother was….. well, pretty epic.  I’ve never used that word before, haha!!  I’m just not sure what else i could say!

Such a fun group and a beautiful wedding!

……………………………………………………………………………………………….

Well, that sums up 2011!

It was a lot of fun.

I was so fortunate and blessed to have met so many new faces this past year, and they were all sent to me by familiar ones.  How great is that?

I can’t wait to see what 2012 brings!

♥ Thank you guys so much for your continued business, friendship and support! ♥

December 3, 2011 Sale!

When i’m bored, stir-crazy, need a break, (or if it’s a day that ends in ‘Y’)….. I like to shop.  I don’t just like to shop though, I like to search out sales and clearance racks – I like to get a deal.

Right now, I’m a little of all of the above – only my husband had the foresight to veto my shopping spree in advance.  What do I do now?  Maybe I create a sale for YOU!  If you’ve had a rough day, a great day, you’re going a little stir crazy, or you just realized “today does end in Y”, then this sale is for you!
For qualifying orders ($25min) enter SHOPSPREE2011 at check out to get 20% off your orders today & tomorrow only!

In other news;

Stay tuned for a ‘This Year in Review’ blog!  I’ll recap on some fabulous sessions I’ve had with some fantastic people (this means YOU), as well as fill you in on where I’ve been and who I’ve shot (Haha) these past two months (yes, YOU too!)!

It’s sure to be the highlight of your day!

NOT ME.

Haha!!  It’s funny because it true!  I’ve never really blogged before. I mean, I attempted to start a blog about a year ago, but the focus was hazy, at best, and I ended up blogging up my attempt at weight watchers – which was actually funny at the beginning, then, not so much. It fizzled in about a month. (as did my weight watchers attempt!)

I’d like to think I can do better than that!

I’ve decided to set some goals and guidelines for myself to help me kick this into high gear, and then, well hopefully keep it in any kind of gear at all after that. ;)  I want to share them with all of you, so then it’s ‘out there’,  in the world, for all to see.  That should help keep me accountable, right?

(Right?)

Ok, here goes:

1. I need a clear focus.  In this case, very easy. Done & done! (whew! that was easy!)

2. I need to blog about my recent photo sessions.  I’d like to replace my ‘sneak peek’s’ on my facebook page with a link to a blog post about that session, along with some sneak peaks.

3. Weddings MUST be blogged.  So much goes into that day, so many beautiful images come out of that day, and there are so many fantastic vendors that I’ve been able to meet. I need to share that in much more in depth than a ‘sneak peek’ with all of you, as well as let the Bride and Groom, and all of you, know just how fantastic I thought their day was and why!

4. I recently attended a photography seminar.  If I’d blogged about it, while it was fresh in my mind, then not only would I have shared all that great information, but I would be able to go back and remember it all too!  (Duh!) So lets do that too.

Ok, so there you have it.  This is my new promise to myself, all of you, and this lonely lil blog.

So, ta-ta for now.  I should be back early in the week to tell you about the weekend’s festivities.

Stay tuned!

I was thinking of titling this blog “Still under Construction”.  Then tried to think of the different areas that I might be referring to…  I think it’s the whole shebang. This blogsite just might be doomed to end up like my house; a constant work in progress, always changing, and new looks and ideas just waiting for the current new looks and ideas to be completed!  That’s actually totally fitting for a website/blogsite.  (right?)  My house, on the other hand….ehhh.  ;)  I’ll stop myself right there on the house talk!  Another day, another blog!

So, (focus…)what do you do when you’re all moved into your new pad, everything’s in its place (maybe not a permanent place, but at least you’re unpacked…), and you’re finally thinking, “This place is really starting to look just the way I want it to”   ????

You throw a house warming Blogsite warming party!!

*what the heck is a Blogsite warming party?!*

I have no idea!! Just come on over, and bring your friends!  You can check everything out, leave me some comment love….  Helpful tips and constructive criticism are totally more than welcome and appreciated! I neeeeed your praises & approval!! Haha!! (no seriously.)

Best part is, I don’t even have to cook!!

It’s a friday anyway.  Even if you are at work, you know you’re slackin and already counting down the hours…  ;)  So come! And please, (please, please, please) bring your friends!

*Sidenote*

I should also be giving my apologies to the lovely groomsmen at the top of this blog page, whose faces are completely covered by my Logo/Title!!  Haha!!  I promise, it’s not because you lost a beauty contest!! I haven’t yet figured out how to change the image size options, or placement options so that they don’t get stuck under there!!

August 1, 2011 Under Construction!!

Hey everyone!!

Thanks to Photographyblogsites.com I’ve got this fantastic new blogsite to customize & make my own!  No worries, I’ll be fully integrated with my existing website we all know & love!   (right?) ;)

So, for now please excuse the empty pages and spaces and all…. it’ll all be filled up soon enough!!

This is so fun and exciting!!

Thanks for your patience!
